Bognor Dune Runners grateful for support

Bognor Dune Runners are a team of 5 running the Marathon des Sables (MdS) in 2015 in aid of Chestnut Tree House, a childrens hospice in Sussex..  The MdS is the toughest footrace on the planet.  It is 250 km (about 155 miles) through the Sahara desert in 50 degrees heat over 5 days, averaging a marathon a day.  Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for 280 children and young adults from 0-25 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions from Sussex and South East Hampshire.

We are pleased to announce that we are now an accredited contractor through CHAS - a prestigious accreditation scheme that embodies our commitment to Health and Safety.  

Assessing suppliers health and safety competence is usually a lengthy and time consuming process. Suppliers can sometimes meet one buyer’s Health and Safety standards but not another. Being CHAS approved reduces duplication as suppliers compliance is accepted by all CHAS buyers. CHAS assesses applicants on:

• Health and safety policy statement
• Their organisation for health and safety
• Their specific health and safety arrangements to a standard acceptable to our buyers and to others

Colin Hiscock has recently returned from the Sahara after competing in the Marathon des Sables.  It is 250 km (about 155 miles) through the Sahara desert in 50 degrees heat over 5 days, averaging a marathon a day.  Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for 280 children and young adults from 0-25 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions from Sussex and South East Hampshire.
