What is a Phase 2 Site Investigation?

Phase 2 Site Investigations can follow on from a Phase 1 Desktop Study and involves intrusive testing. If potential contaminants have been identified in the land during the Phase 1 Desktop Study, you will need a Phase 2 Site Investigation. Your planning department, mortgage lender, building control or warranty company may require it.

A Phase 2 Site Investigation involves the installation of shallow boreholes, trial pits and potentially gas and groundwater monitoring. This is followed by an associated report. Although a site investigation may sound daunting, it can be as simple as some hand dug trial pits with a limited selection of chemical testing.

How do we carry out Phase 2 Site Investigations?

It’s important to us that you have the least disruption possible. That’s why we make sure that we schedule and complete Phase 2 site investigations as quickly as possible to enable you to get started with your build. We’ll visit you on site and once we’re there we’ll either dig shallow trial pits or drill shallow boreholes. Both of these are simple for us to carry out.

Should your report show that your project needs further action we’ll walk you through the steps to Phase 3 & 4.
